THE ABERJONA PRESS: Setting the Highest Standards ... in History
As veterans, military historians, and history buffs ourselves, at the Aberjona Press, we know that plenty of accurate, detailed maps are crucial to making military history make sense to readers. That's why we add so many high quality maps to all of our books. However, even when a book contains numerous, well-rendered maps, it can still be awkward for readers to be forced to flip back and forth between the pages they're reading and the pages on which the maps appear.
One solution is to provide fold-out maps, or even better, a second volume containing a separate set of maps that can be removed and set aside for constant, easy access while reading. Unfortunately, such solutions inevitably add considerable, often prohibitive expenses to books that are already in the $20 to $40 range.
As a service to its readers, The Aberjona Press has begun posting the maps for its books on those books' pages on our corporate website. Now, readers may simply call up the maps they need with a click of the mouse, and keep exactly the ones they need in front of them on their monitors as they read. Alternatively, readers may also print the maps and create a folio of all the maps in the book, for the pennies It costs to print them, rather than the much greater sum that adding such a collection would cost to include as fold-outs or as sheets in a separate volume.
In the near future, we will be offering low-cost compact disks with high-resolution images of each map as after-market or companion products for those who have limited or expensive access to the InterNet, experience excessive download time, or simply desire very high resolution. Watch this site and our advertising in upcoming issues of the Journal of Military History, World War II, Military Heritage, and Military History magazines for announcements about availability and prices!
